Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 9-12 and submit an essay in which they discuss the application of gene therapy in curing or repairing a particular disease or condition. Selection favors presentations that offer well-reasoned arguments, thus exemplifying a student's deep understanding of all concepts related to the essay question.

Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.
