Selection is based on the overall strength of the application and financial need, with preference given to students attending colleges in Oregon and nontraditional students or those returning after a considerable break.

Undergraduate students must be in a nutrition, physical education or culinary arts program. Graduate students must be enrolled in a nutrition, public nutrition, physical education or American Dietetic Association Approved Pre-professional Practice program. Minimum GPA requirement for graduate students is 3.0 and for undergraduates is 2.5.
