District of Columbia Tuition Assistance Grant

Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Washington, DC for at least 12 months before the start of their freshman year of college, high school graduates or GED recipients, enrolled at least half-time at an eligible institution and be 24 years of age or younger. Applicants must maintain satisfactory academic progress, not have defaulted on student loans, have registered with the Selective Service, be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have not already received a B.A. or B.S. and have not been incarcerated. The award provides up to $10,000 a year for the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition at public four year institutions in the U.S. and up to $2,500 per year for private colleges in DC, private Historically Black Colleges and Universities or two-year colleges nationwide.

Eligibility: Applicants must have been in foster care for their 18th birthday and have aged out at that time, been adopted from foster care with the adoption finalized after their 16th birthday, or have their foster care case closed between the ages of 18 and 21. Students must be residents of Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Maryland, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio or the District of Columbia. Students must be a U.S. citizen with assets worth less than $10,000. Applicants must be at least 17 but younger than 21 to apply for the first time.
